Our History

In 1984, a group of families were told that the Arc Eden Nursing Home was scheduled to close. They did not want their family members to move to another institutional setting but rather lobbied the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Community and Social Services seeking alternative living arrangements. Because of their complex medical needs, there was much skepticism as to whether these individuals could be supported in a setting outside the familiar norm of an institutional setting environment. With the support of the provincial government, “Mariposa” was created. In consultation with the families, four community homes were purchased in North York.

Mariposa was incorporated and renamed Home Again. Home Again quickly became a leader in providing community support to people with complex care needs. It fostered the creation of other similar organizations such as New Beginnings.

In an effort to reduce the number of small organizations across Toronto, the Ministry of Community and Social Services invited Home Again and New Beginnings to join forces. On April 1,1995, these two separate entities were amalgamated to form Montage Support Services.

Montage Support Services has grown to include nine community homes, nine condominium apartments and a respite home called Rory’s Place. We proudly support more than 55 adults with a work force of committed individuals holding a variety of full and part time positions.
